Hi,
I need to close an open window using safari browser, but neither window.close() or self.close() works.
These methods work on IE for Mac, but I need Safari.
Below is the simple code to test it.
All three links ("Display Text", "Close this page", "Close this window") work using IE, but only "Display Text" works on Safari, and other two are just ignored.
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2 Final//EN">
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<script>
function displayText()
{
alert("This is a text from this page!")
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
This is a page to test closing of an open window by Safari browser.
<br>
<a href="javascript:displayTe
<br>
<a href="javascript:self.clos
<br>
<a href="javascript:window.cl
</body>
</html>
I also tried window.top.close(), window.self.close(), and <a href="#" onclick="javascript:top.cl
Nothing works. But this code works for other browsers.
I'd appreciate your help!

The above works fine in my version of Safari v2.0.2 (416.12). It could sound like a bug in the version of Safari you are using. Try updating to the latest version and see if things start working as expected.
