Mouse and keyboard stop working when Windows is completely loaded.

Installed a wireless USB kbd\mouse from Microsoft. These worked for months and then on a fresh startup one day all of a sudden they stopped responding. I plugged in the PS2 equivalents (unplugged USB transmitter) and those worked for a few weeks. Now all of a sudden neither type works after Windows is completely loaded. Mouse can be moved but no clicks or keystrokes are recognnized.
Bios mode works fine. Before Windows is completely loaded, I can get som keystrokes and clicks in.
I already tried a Windows repair.
Any ideas?
