I guess you (interactive) shell uses another awk (probably gawk) than your cron, test with
which awk
Then use a full path to awk in your script.

awk: can't open update_sql.awk

The shell script is as follow:
SCRIPTHOME=/aaa/home/scrip
##/aaa/home/scripts/aaa_ol
awk -f $SCRIPTHOME/oli_valo_all.a
$SCRIPTHOME/update_sql.sh
The job in conrtab is as follow:
55 13 8-14 * 0 /aaa/home/scripts/aaa_oli_
I try to run it manually in the command prompt and it runs perfectly. Please suggest a solution. Thanks.

what shell were you using when you run the script in commanline?
type in:
echo $SHELL
to find out
eg: if it is a ksh
add:
#!/bin/ksh
as the first line of the script and try again.
