How can I get/make a simple example of COM (Component Object Model)?

Dear Experts:

I am studying COM now, and got some basic knowledge about it (such as it is a binary standard about how components communicates). Now I want to find or make a concrete example of COM, but it does not seem easy to find one.

I want to know how to build a COM component (a .dll file), and a program (.exe file) that uses the the component. I just want the example to be as simple as possible, like helloworld. Is it possible for me to make it or find it for VS2005? If not, what about VS6 or other tools?
