The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

Hook Help

I have a VB6 application that needs to set a system wide mouse hook.  I already know you cannot make a *.dll in VB that will accomplish this.  I need the WORKING  C++ (6) source code for a system wide mouse hook that I can set/unset from my VB application.  The messages the mouse hook dll should send back to my VB6 application are left and right mouse down and up.  At this point I could care less about movement or idle time.  I am not being specific about why I need it because I don't want all sorts of additional stuff added into the dll.  I just need the barebones minimum at this point.  Additionally, please don't show me links to MSDN or 3rd party software.  From what I can tell this should take an expert only a few minutes to construct a dll of this type.  I don't know C++ which is why I need the complete source code, pointers won't help me out at this juncture.

I would prefer a normal win32 dll (because I know how to make them!), as opposed to a MFC dll (which confuses me), that is broken down by the header code (*.h) and the source code (*.cpp) so that I can quickly build a dll and test it.  If you include a keyboard hook (same idea- set/unset it from my VB6 app) in the source for the mouse hook dll I will double my points.  The keyboard hook isn't that important though...
