Problems with CFileDialog

I am having trouble with CFileDialog. All I am trying to do is allow user to change a filename (and path) of a file used by the app. This name is saved in serialization as a CString (is this ok to do?). Anyway, when I initialize the CFileDialog, I would like it to pop up to the currently saved pathname/file name. I have tried many different things to get this to happen, mostly by assigning the OPENFILENAME members (FileDlg.m_ofn.lpstrFile, e.g.). But it isn't quite happy with something. Tried using CString.GetBuffer and copying the string into a separate buffer, and attaching the pointers to that.
Also, if I merely assign ofn.lpstrFile to the entire path that I have saved, the dialog will come up with the right file name, but not at the right directory.

Anyway, if you know the proper way to get what I'm after, I will be very grateful!!
