How do I get rid of the default MFC icon

The MFC default icon is displayed instead of the icon that I designed whenever the executable is viewed in Small Icons, List, or Details modes.  The only time my icon is displayed is when the viewing mode is set to Large Icons.

Yes, I did edit the MFC icon in the icon resource editor.

How do I get the icon that I created to
be displayed in all the view modes?

This MFC applications was built using MSVC++ 6.0.

The Windows explorer locates the first icon appearing in an apps resource table as the default to use for it's display icon.  The simplest way to get rid of the MFC icon is to replace the MFC icon with another one.  Make sure it's the first one in the resouce file.

Oh, and I forgot to mention.  There are 2 default MFC icons, a large one and a small one, you must replace BOTH of them.

Click on the combobox at the top of the icon window in the resource editor and choose the "SMALL 16x16" icon.  Only the large one is initially shown.

Sup,

   There is a line in your dialogs constructor..
m_hIcon = AfxGetApp()->LoadIcon(IDI_ICON1);

Replace IDI_ICON1 with your icon resourece name.. This will change your icon while in the program (i.e. Top left corner of the app, and taskbar)

And if you want your .EXE file to use your icon, just goto the Resource tab and delete the default one.. Then rebuild all.. and it should b good..

Delete the IDR_MAINFRAME icon that application wizard creates .
Then again insert an icon and design it and again name it.IDR_MAINFRAME

Open your resource.h and change your ID_OF_YOURICON to minimized.
for example: #define IDI_YOUR_ICON                       99 // minimized data

jhance is right on. This is why the small icon is still the default MFC icon.

there are 2 icons u can edit with the resource editor.32X32 and 16X16
Edit the 16X16 one for the results u desire
