The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Making the move to MFC

Stop here if you are only interested in points...

First of all, thanking you all in advance for the great job you all do on here. Its great to have a place where knowledge can be freely exchanged in a way that benefits everyone.

Up to date, I have learned the basics of C++, coming from a basic background. I can create basic functions, define variables and use them with basic and complex algorithms. I have an excelent understanding of the statements and cin/cout.

I once installed Microsoft Visual C++ and was overcome by its complexity, talk about jumping in at the deep end. I (after scouring the web for hours just to find a tutorial which didnt assume that you were already an expert), was able to construct a basic application which did nothing. A short time later I discovered the wizzard which would do this for you automatically in a heart beat. I went searching for a turorial to tell me how to put input controls in the application window and found a few (most were not helpfull at all), but whilst all of them would tell me how to put the control in the applications window, none of them would tell me where the input the user enters gets stored and how to access it for manipulation. This was very discouraging and put me off for a while.

The only problems I have is lack of viable resources and whilst most people are quick to snap at you about getting a "good book", thats all good and well but I do not have $60 to get a good book and the library in my area doesnt keep "good books". So I am limited to online resources.

(very long winded I know, I will cut to the chase)

I am a very competent web developer but I would like to also be a very competent games developer one day, is there anyone here interested in taking on the mamoth task of tutoring me in MFC?
