Tooltip does not work on the edit part of a combobox

Hello,

I have a CDialog with a dropdown combobox. For this element tooltips only work on the drop down button but not on the edit part.
All other items work fine.

The dialog was created using visual studio 2008 with mfc and the dialog editor. Nothing dynamic.

m_ToolTips.AddTool(GetDlgItem(IDC_COMBODOMAIN), "Enter the domain to get the DNS MX records from (for example: 'ibm.com')");
m_ToolTips.AddTool(GetDlgItem(IDC_CHECKTESTCONNECTION), "Set this to test each host and read it's welcome string");
m_ToolTips.AddTool(GetDlgItem(IDC_BUTTONSTART), "Start");

I don't like these classes. It must be possible to use standard mfc tooltips with a combobox

No, it must not. Tooltips were added to the MFC much later than combobox which was part of the first versions.. The concepts only allow to use it on a control of thw dialog, view or frame window. The edit part of the combobox isn't a control and was managed by the combobox control. There is no easy way to integrate that.
