The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Where do my Windows Messages go ???

Asked by PC-Alex in Windows OLE Programming, Windows MFC Programming, ActiveX

I am trying to find out where my windows messages go, I get no event at all when clicking with the mouse on a certain control.

Whenever a yellow tool tip comes up, I get no more messages around this tool tip. I tried using PreTranslateMessage in all kinds of classes involved, with no luck.

Strange: The Tool Tip class is a simple CWnd derived class; the "CTitleTip::OnMouseMove" event fires as desired, but CTitleTip::OnLButtonDown / CTitleTip::OnLButtonUp never fires. CTitleTip::PreTranslateMessage is never run through, even when the "CTitleTip::OnMouseMove" becomes active.
CTitleTip::OnMouseMove is directly called from CWnd::OnWndMsg, so this gives me no further clue why OnLButtonDown isn't.

I have tried so many things, I just need to know where my left mouse click event goes to. Of course I have checked all other OnLButtonDown functions in the complete project, none fires, and I have traces in all PreTranslateMessage functions, right at the start, as far as this function is used, with no clue.

I use an MFC Grid Control, see http://www.codeproject.com/miscctrl/gridctrl.asp, and have modified it in several ways. Most important, I packed it into an OCX file, for using it inside Visual Basic 6 inside the toolbox.

I suppose it might have to do with the way Visual Basic sends messages to an OCX control ?

I have uploaded the OCX project with C++ code, and with a minimal VB exe for just demonstrating the problem, on http://www.a-m-i.de/datagridctrl.zipStart Free Trial
