I recommend you Karen Hazzah's book "Writing Windows VxDs and Device Drivers". In my opinion it is a better way to start in this area. Of course, you need DDK or VToolsD (www.vireo.com) as well.

How to write a VxD
Can anyone give me a step by step process of how to create a VxD (The VxD must be very, very simple as I have not written one before). How do I install it, register it and call it from an application etc.
