Visual Basic, WMI and WiFi Signal Strength

I have been researching on this for the past few days, any pointers are welcome.

How does one acquire a numeric value of WiFi signal strength using Windows Management Instrumentation, or any other methodologies besides WMI with Visual Basic.

Some codes would be helpful.

The project is a rather extensive database program that has part of the network on 802.11. Hence i need to build some form of signal strength assessment with precaution measures while database is being manipulated.
