802.11b c++ signal strength meter

I am looking to write a c++ application in windows that will be able to determine if a wirelss signal exists and if so then the strength of the signal.  I have a prism2 chipset card.
I have done a web search but there doesn't appear to be much info.
A code example would be great.

I am trying to write this for windows 98.  (my laptop won't support anything much more)  From what I have read NDISUIO is not overly compatible with 98.  Will look further and google some more.

I run WRAPItest.cpp.
I have problem.

I got the first AP with the right MAC address, and all the other MAC address  of APs were wrong.
