The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How do I clear out ALL data from a Blackberry handheld

Tags: blackberry, wipe
My co-owner has a Blackberry that she has sold and wants to wipe all of her personal data, email, addy book, etc...  Is there a way to do that without cracking the case on it? (and without having to hand delete each item?)

Thanks,

in the Desktop Manager, go into the 'Backup abd Restore' feature (I know, intuitive, huh?) then click 'Advanced' and it will show you all the data currently stored on the unit in the right-hand pane. Select the item (address book, calendar, etc) and click the 'Clear' button to wipe them out.

So, it has to be done through the PC software...no way to do it with just the handheld?

No, I don't believe so....

(as an aside, one of my co-worker's wives is a long-time developer at RIM, and she's the one who told me how to do this...so...I think the answer is no)

Cool...That is what I needed to know...I just didn't want to miss something and tell her the wrong thing.

Thanks much.

If you set a password on the device by going into options-->security.

Then if you type the password in wrong 10 times then it wipes it :)

On a Blackberry 7210, running 4.x - go to Settings -> Security -> Password.  Press the scroll wheel and There is an option to "Wipe Blackberry".  Choose this and you will be asked to type in the word "blackberry".  The device will then be wiped.

Hi All,

Just wanted to post an addendum. You can actually delete the data using the handheld.

For devices running 4.0 and above there is a "Wipe HandHeld" option in the click menu in Options | Security (see http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/8021/7925/8142/How_To_-_Erase_all_data_and_applications_on_the_handheld_.html?nodeid=233095&vernum=0)

For devices less than 4.0, you can wipe the info on the device by setting a password, and then entering it incorrectly 10 times.

Regards,
NC.
