I have a DELL AXIM X5 which has worked perfectly with Microsoft ActiveSync 3.x for a few years. I recently installed ActiveSync 4.1 and my connection fails to work.
[ACTIVESYNC DOWNLOAD SITE : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4c254e3f-79d5-4012-8793-d2d180a42dfa&DisplayLang=en]

I get this error:

Synchronization cannot be completed successfully.  Reconnect your device and try again.  If the problem persists, see the Microsoft ActiveSync Troubleshooter in Microsoft ActiveSync Help on your desktop computer.

I have tried working through some of the suggestions which are applicable. [see the Readme which can be downloaded using the link above]
I have tried disabling the firewall [zone alarm] when making a connection -doesnt make any difference.

I understand that ActiveSync 4.x has some TCP/IP changes but I am not sure where I would change these.

I am using a personal computer - Windows XP

I dont know what else to try - please help?
