What are the standard command lines in the autoexec.bat file for WIN95

My autoexec.bat file leaves me at the c:\ prompt where it used to start up windows.

The article points to an incomplete installation of WIN95. I know that I installed WIN95 correctly because this problem has only recently cropped up. The article recommends reinstalling WIN95. From what I know this isn't usually a good practice unless you are starting from scratch, which is where I began. My MYSDOS settings are correct per the article so I guess my next question would be - should you reinstall WIN95 for this problem?

Thanks - albero@sprynet.com
Hi,

If you checked and followed the steps from the document about the msdos.sys file and it shows BootGUI=1, then i think it would be a good idea to reinstall windows 95.  You have nothing to lose, and a lot to gain.  Also, i am not aware of any other way to correct this problem.  If you called MS, they would instruct you to follow the steps in the article.  If that didn't work, then they would instruct you to reinstall.  Did you try to boot into SafeMode?  If not, this is how you do it:

   1) when you see the message "windows 95 is starting", hit the F8 key.  Select safe mode.  Keep me updated with your progress and whether you decided to reinstall.

Thanks,

I would bet that would be MS's answer. The problem occurred when I removed software that I didn't find useful. My autoexec file changed at that point and that is where things lie for now.

Appreciate your help
