audio tape to cd
Hi
Using a cable I connected my tape recorder to my computer sound card and recorded some songs and saved it as a wave file in my hard disk. Then I burned (copied) the wave file to my CD. When I played the CD in my computer no sound at all. When I played the same CD in CD player, it works fine. How can I make the CD play both in my computer CD and my cassette player?
Thanks

If it plays in a CD Player and not on your computer, there's something wacky with your computer. Any standard audio CD you can burn on your computer, will play on your computer. If not you're missing components required for play.

The wave file plays ok if I play it in the hard disk. But when I burned it on the CD, it does not play in PC cdrom. As Weed said, I am missing components required for PC cdrom play. What might be that missing component?
Thanks for the help

Faud, look at what Snowguy is telling you. If the analog wire that runs from the CD-rom to the sound card isn't connected and your CD player app. is set to use analog cd-playback instead of digital playback, you won't hear anything.
Look at that cable first and make sure it's connected properly. After that, try plugging your speakers into the front of the CD-rom while the disc is playing and see if you get sound.
My bet is on the audio cable...

When I go home I will check my PC. However, When I checked my PC at work, the Music tab under Multimedia properties has no option to enable digital cd. The Music tab has only to fields, Cd-Rom drive and headphone volune adjustment, low to high. So how do I enable digital cd? Please excuse my ignorance. I am not familiar how sound works. I appreciate if some recommend a website to familiarize myself on this topic.
Thanks
Thanks

HI Snowguy
Thanks a lot. When a put a check in CD audio and CD digital it worked. In the Save as Type there are different types to save the file, how do I know which one to choose.

Glad you got it working
If thay are wave files save them as .wav

Make shure you dont have cd audio or wave/mp3 muted under play control.
Also check under controlpanel Multimedia properties cd Music tab you may have to enable digital cd if your unit dosen't have the anolog wire atached.
You can also check your unit to see if it will play thru the headphone jack if your cdrom has one.
