How to I enabled 'ttya' for console access in addition to what I already have defined?

Hi All,
I currently have a port designed for console access on my Solaris 2.6 server, which I currently have connected to a terminal server. However I would like to also like to enable ttya serial port for console access so that I can use a modem to connect to the console remotely. Any ideas on how to do this? Thanks for any input.

Yo can:

1.- Get a RSC (Remote System Controller) Card. It permits you to have your console through different types of connectors and protocols. It suports direct serial, modem  and TCP/IP connections.

2.- Get a terminal concentrator with modem support. Yo can acces the terminal concentrator via modem or locally. There are many brands of this terminal concentrators like Annex (Nortel) or Avocent.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the information, but this isnt exactly what I was looking for. I KNOW that there is a way of configuring the ttya port for console access in addition to what is already used for console access. I know that i have witnessed this done before. I just dont know how to do it. Any other ideas? Thanks.

If you are looking to have console access via your ttya and the Terminal server at the same time, it's not gonna happen.

You can only have 1 console on a system at any one time, so you can either have the terminal server acting as the console or the modem on ttya... not both simultaneously.

You can't have seen this before as the OS doesn't allow it.  You may have seen a console on one output and a terminal connection on the other, but definately not 2 consoles.

If however you do manage to get this working, please post your method on this question so we can all see how it's done.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but it may save you a lot of time searching google etc.
