I have a SATA Controller and SATA drives.  It appears the RAID1 is configured.  Drives have been build and verified, status OPTIMAL.  When trying to load Windows 2003 server, the OS does not see the drives.

Windows 2003 by default can not see RAID Arrays. So even though you have a RAID1 all set up and working if you go into my computer windows it will only show 1 drive and nothing about the RAID Array. Sometimes the manufacturer of the computer system you are using offer an array mananger software. Like Dell has an array manager under Open manage applications, once this software is installed you can see details on your raid configuration.
