Remote Computer Managment

I am looking at remote management solutions for our servers. I need the ability to boot up, reboot, and vnc to the servers I am managing.
I found this http://opengear.com/product-cm4116.html and it looks like something I would be interested in. What is the difference between that and kvm/ip?
Also, I noticed I can connect it to the serial port on my firewall and switches... what kind of configuration is required to manage these devices, or am I better off doing that the way I am now?

What OS are your servers running.  If they are running Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2003 I would just use Terminal Services.  This will work for everything except when you need to physically tough the machine to reboot it.  Plus, I like it a lot more than VNC.  If you are not using Windows servers then obviosuly this woun't be an option.

Yea, I need access to the server before windows boots up. I already use RDP to connect to the servers, but one of them has a non-critical controller error that requires me to press f1 to continue.
Forget the question about the serial port controlling the firewall and switches, I just had a brain fart ;-)

The one other item Josh, you don't mention what your servers are. We use the HP DL series with the Integrated Light Out (ILO). The KVM over IP solution works for us.
We have a mix of dell and older compaq servers. As well as some non branded towers and custom rack servers.
