Wireless Card
I have an older Compaq LTE 5400 laptop:
I purchased a Wireless 54mps 802.11g PCMCIA card for it (Trendnet TEW-421PC), and the compuer fails to see it. No lights coming from the card nothing. Windows also fails to recognize it. This laptop is running Windows 98. Any insights?
thanks

If the laptop is not Cardbus compliant:
Can somebody find a card that would work with this specific laptop
Can somebody find a card that would work with this specific laptop
Assuming the laptop has got a usb port, why don't you get a usb wireless adapter?
ASKER
The laptop actually doesn't have any usb support. I had initally considered that.

Is there any 16bit PCMCIA wireless cards?
this is what I have found, but I would check Ebay.

Did you install the software for the network card first before inserting the card? If I remember correctly about Windows 98 there is a two step process for something like this. You first install the software and then you reboot your computer and insert the card on boot up. You will then see it loading drivers for your card. Windows 98 was very flaky when it came to something like this. Did you do this? If not follow these steps and let me know if it finds your card after doing this.
ASKER
Yeah I had installed the drivers, then I inserted the card after reboot. Still, Windows could not detect the card.

Is there any site that sells NEW 16bit Wireless card that is not an auction site.
