Did you disconnect all external peripherals except the monitor, keyboard and mouse? . . .  and be sure those are not USB, or wireless.  Any internal USB card should also be removed.
Almost certainly it cannot handle the Nvidia video card,  ALL these worthless releases of vista have struggled with Nvidia video and networking -- they just cant seem to support the MOST popular and fastest video standard available.

The more vista "matures", the more it is proving to be a loser.

Winvintang8,

I suggest starting the install, getting a cup of tea and watching TV, or go to the pub for a few hours. This seamed to do the trick for me with RC1. Got stuck at the same point over and over but leaving it for most of the day sorted the problem. It just took a bit of time after the screen going blank and appearing to crash.

PS Nice Spec!

A few hours in the Pub sure can't hurt anything!
