Can't migrate emails from Outlook Express 5 to 6

Objective: Migrate email messages from Outlook Express 5 (on an old W98 PC) to Outlook Express 6 (on a new XP PC).

1) I used the File, Export facility on OE 5, and it copied the messages to a file that I subsequently had to find myself - it didn't ask me what folder to write them to. Odd?

2) Copied this file to a USB memory stick, and transfered it to the new XP machine.

3) Started OE 6, did File, Import and the wizard listed a number of email client message formats to import from. It listed OE4 and OE6, but not OE5 ?!

I tried selecting OE4, but got nowhere.

Then tried selectiing OE6, Main Identity. But, when I pointed it to the folder on the USB stick containing the emails exported from OE5, it said there's nothing there.

MS should have made this migration job as easy as falling off a log - why else should we have to pay monopoly prices???

Millions of people must have done this - anyone help?
