The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How to setup SBS Server: Unable to setup DNS and DHCP

Asked by bbrainis in SBS Small Business Server, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name Service (DNS)

Tags: , , , ,

I am trying to setup a Microsoft SBS 2003 Server. I can't seem to get my DNS or DHCP correct and/or be able to connect 5 clients, after reading so much information. I have two NIC's installed with the following IP's 192.168.1.200 for the local network and 192.168.1..201 for internet with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and the netopia gateway 192.168.1.254. I put the primary DNS address as the IP address w/ no 2nd DNS. I have DHCP running on a router and want to move it to the server, DNS is running in services, but when i go to DNS it says no DNS server (don't have one), i click select 'this computer" and it won;t do anything. I can get on the internet with the way i have the dns configured, if i put in my isp's i can get online.

One time i was able to do the "servername"/connectcomputer and got the page, but when i tried to click install remote, it said sbs something wiard not running.

I appreciate any help, i know what DNS and DHCP do, but i stuck on basically a proper setup for them as well as getting the clients hooked up to the server.Start Free Trial
