The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. JSP needs to be touched manually for page to render for a specific type of Content

We have our site deployed on Vignette Application server (VCM Content Management system). Web application code is deployed on tomcat 5.0.16 application server. Site provide search functionality to search the content from autonomy search engine. Code queries autonomy search engine to retrive the result.

Everything works fine after deploying the code on tomcat. But randomly after few days, search breaks automatically. Search is able to retrive the results as it renders the total number of results on top of the page but does not able to render the results which are the links to actual content. It losts all HTML and does not render anything else.

 I am using Solaris OS. The code for search is written in .jsp (say search_result.jsp). Now as soon as I  touch search_result.jsp (By using command [touch search_result.jsp]), search starts working properly. This makes me think that somehow tomcat needs this file to recompile. NO ERRORS in log except "Can not write output afer reading input"

This issue comes in every few days (may be when a content is changed / added /deleted  / other ?) and everytime when I touch this file, the problem gets resolved. This is so strange for me.

Any help / comment will be greatly appreciated.
