farewell Robert Marquardt
I learned that Robert Marquardt lost a battle with cancer on Dec 29, 2007. Robert was a Guru (253,657 points) in the EE Delphi TA.
Robert was also the wiki Sysop for Project Guttenburg's Distributed Proofreaders and had served as one of the first managers of the Delphi-JEDI project.
Thanks and farewell, Robert. We miss you already.

I don't know what to say in these cases so ... farewell from me as well.

EE participants/experts certainly develop online relationships through our exchanges.
I looked up past Delphi questions where both Robert and I had commented. It seems like more than 14. Maybe I moved on to other questions when I saw a Robert comment. I knew the questioner was in good hands. The Delphi community was richer for Robert's presence. Now we are diminished and saddened.
I don't know why his passing has affected me so. I didn't know him personally. We didn't even live on the same continent. Maybe it is my age, or the holidays, or the passing of my father a little over a year ago.
I am glad that Robert's online communities have paid a tribute to him. (two CodeGear blogs, a Distributed Proofreaders notice, and a mention in the January EE newsletter)

even though I didn't know him, it's always sad to loose a fellow coder... RIP
I have had the pleasure of working on a number of questions with Robert in the past, and I can say that his experience and passion in/for the Delphi community will be sorely missed.
Godspeed,
Russell

The death of Robert dismays me much and clasps me with mourning. I had some good discussions with Robert and was impressed from its specialized knowledge. I will miss him.

Do you have the ability to change the date of this question? I'm not sure of the best way to bring this to the attention of the other Delphi EE experts, since this item is not on the Delphi question home page.
