Is there a reliable internet speed test
I'm trying to test my internet speed and am getting very different results, ranging from 1/4 Mbps to 8 Mbps. I've used CNET, McAfee, Verizon, InternetFrog and a 3Gspeed test i found through apple.
Is there a reliable source i can use?

rngsudu's suggestion of http://www.speedtest.net/ looks pretty good because you can compare between different servers. There's a big difference between them. The variation you got is not surprising.
Are you sure you are not comparing Mbps to MBps?
1 MBps (megabyte per second) = 8 mbps (megabits per second)
1 MBps (megabyte per second) = 8 mbps (megabits per second)
You can also use www.bandwidthplace.com
What is the problem you are having other than trying to determine connectivity speed?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm downgrading my cable internet and wanted to get a baseline of what I currently am getting. I believe I'm supposed to have a connection up to 8 Mbps.
I ran it on speedtest.net on two different servers and got 11.9 and 21.51 Mbps. Now i'm even more confused.
