APC UPS SNMP timeout error in Monitoring software

I am testing out a bit of server monitoring software call GFI Max Remote Management. It looks very comprehensive and one of the features it has is to monitor SNMP devices. I am using SNMP to monitor an APC UPS. I have deployed the software's agent to 2 SBS 2003 servers. one server works and reports the condition of the UPS but the other gives an SNMP timeout error. Both systems have an SUA1000I connected with a serial cable and APC agent 8.0.1 installed. Both systems show the UPS is working normally when viewed from the built in agent website. Why would one of the systems be timing out?

how do i do that?
On the device it self, there should be an SNMP settings page (if it is accessible via web / through a console). Cross-reference the settings with the device that works and is being monitoring and make sure the settings match up.
the only SNMP options are
-enable or disable and
-Minimum SNMP Trap Severity:
informational
warning
minor
major
severe

on both systems SNMP is enabled and set to informational
APC uses smart signaling to communication back and forth.  Do you have this configured properly on the one that isn't functioning with SNMP?  Is there a firewall enabled on the server that isn't responding properly?  Do you have the server connected to the same UPS?  One cable will utilize smart signaling and the other uses a null cable connected to an expansion board.
