TOC including paragraph verbiage? Word 2007

For some reason when I generate a TOC in Word 2007 the paragraph following the heading (so far just heading 1) is included. Any help would be appreciated!

See image below... top is TOC - bottom half is body text

Hello CFrasnelly,

check the outline level of your normal style (or whatever style you are using for the document body text). Right-click on the style in the Home ribbon, select Modify. Click the Format button in the lower left hand corner and select Paragraph. Then make sure that the Outline level under General is "Body Text" and nothing else.

It is indeed set to "Body Text."  See screen shot.  Any other thoughts?

Can you post a Word doc with a few paragraphs of sanitised text and a TOC that shows the behaviour you describe?

cheers, teylyn
You bet... here you go!  Thanks for your willingness to help!

While you are in there... I also do not get the option to "Remove Table Of Contents" from the References tab (see screen shot).  Not sure why that would be the case?

Thank you very much teylyn!!!
Helpful beyond any expectations I would have for a site like this!  Thanks!
Thanks for the grade and the nice comment!
