IT Inventory Based on Excel Spreadsheet

I have a great deal of inventory on our IT environment that has been gathered up.  I need to be able to place it into a database and be able to run searches, reports, etc off of it.  However... I was hired as Network Engineer! - NOT a database programmer.  Translation: I know NOTHING about these things!

I made the mistake of suggesting building an inventory database... therefore, I was volunteered to do the whole thing. 0.o  Now, I need help!  I have a deadline looming, a ton of inventory that  needs to be entered and I have no earthly idea how to do this!  I have read tutorial after tutorial, tried some of the pre-mades, but I just don't have what I need.  I have included a copy of my spreadsheet that we are using.

I need to be able to reference things like:

+ Technicians (so we know what each has done)
+ PCs (so we can quickly see what makes and models we have out)
+ Remedy (so we can do a search via a ticket number and see what went where)
+ User Name (so we can see what they currently have assigned/what they HAD assigned/etc)
+ IPs so we can see what was assigned where, when, etc

These are just a few examples... but I have no clue as to do it!  Could someone at least point me in the right direction?!

Dear Lord, HELP ME!!  This is URGENT!  Everyone is breathing down my neck, I don't know what I'm doing outside of Excel and I need this to be available to my techs ASAP!

ARGH!!!!  *tearing hair out!!*

kdart301,

Just FYI...
Personal Emailing to help in solving Questions is not allowed here...

How about you simply post the DB you created here?
(So that anyone can benefit from it)

kdart301,

Ken, no big deal, lots of people do this by mistake.

I'll explain.
If you require that the asker "email" you, then that locks other Experts out of the process.
It also moves the "Solution" from this site, to you personally.
Meaning that if someone else searches here for the same issue, (and they find this question), they are forced to email you directly.
In other words, the solution is no longer "Public".

Again, if you simply post a sample of your database, then it is public and all may benefit.

If on the other hand if this is a "Product" (read: application you are trying to sell) then you should make that clear...

(I am sure that there are other technicalities here as well, that can better be explained by an Admin...)

Also remember that this is a public forum, and by posting your email address, you open yourself up to Spam from virtually anybody in the World who views this question...

(So this policy protects you as well)

ASKER

I really appreciate everyone's help!  Thank you so much... it's difficult when you're a newbie, have no experience and no budget.  Everything (and I mean everything) has fallen on me to do... at least there are people out here in the IT field that are willing to help! LOL  Now, if you were to give me a network issue, need a switch or router config-ed, I could help you out! :-)

Again, thank you!
LOL.. we all have our talents ;)

Thanks for the comments
