Rogue virus breaking file extensions for .exe
I've had the issue on a few different computers where after running malwarebytes to remove rogue antivirus's I can no longer access .exe files. Almost as though in removal it's removed the registry key that associates those files as applications.
Please provide me with any fix that may work as this is becoming a frustration.

Does the MalwareBytes scan come clean?
Some rogues also make files/folders hidden, if taht is so, run this tool to remove the hidden flags on files and folders.

After fixing the .exe file association, also try running TDSSKiller or ComboFix and post the log in case the system is still infected.
