Anyone have a solution for modifying the Default user profile within Windows 7?

We wanted to select a pre-configured profile after configuring several settings that we want applied for everyone that logs into the machine and do a "copy to" to the default profile like we used to do with XP and Vista but the option "copy-to" button is grayed out.

Although not supported, you can modify the Users\Default\ntuser.dat directly, either through regedit>Load Hive, or from the command line....

Reg Load HKLM\Win7DUP "C:\Users\Default\ntuser.dat"

Then reg add "HKLM\Win7DUP\Software\MS\Blah\Blah"  ... etc.....

You just have to be careful WHAT you are trying to modify.....
@ ivanoviola

Good article BTW ...  :-)
We are trying to modify the desktop, favorites and my documents to go to the network user drive, (H) also some other minor changes such as have their username within the my computer icon along with their computer name, some folder options changed, Internet options ect.  We have done this for years with other Operating Systems using the Copy to Default User profile.
Shell Folders is one area you really have to be careful with in customizing....

Guess this is NOT a domain environment? GPO would be the ideal method to do all of this....
not supported but it is working, even under 64bit:
