Need Fujitsu-Siemens XP Home OEM Recovery CD
Hi Experts.
I recently replaced a Power Supply Unit in a Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo P desktop PC for a guy. It died on him at the worst timing while he was half way through a recovery installation (the type that wipes the drive and restores the "factory image") because it had seemingly been "playing up" and he felt it might be a software issue. Maybe it was a Windows issue, but the PSU was certainly dead. I did a fresh install to finish the job and gave him back the old PSU in the box for the new one. I stuck the Recovery CD in a sleeve and slid it down into the box, and pointed it out to him when I gave it to him and took his money (not a lot, because I work with him).
This morning he informed me that he was going to install the sound card driver from the CD but suddenly remembered with horror that it was still in the box when he threw the old dead power supply in the trash. Now he is worried that if he needs to reinstall Windows he is screwed.
I haven't yet contacted Fujitsu-Siemens UK because I'm pretty sure they won't have any XP recovery CDs left now, and I was just wondering whether (before resorting to eBay, Torrent sites, or other sites that will charge for a CD image or CD), anybody out there (preferably UK-based) might have one kicking around that I could borrow, buy or get a copy of.
In case anybody starts shouting about licensing, piracy, or illegal copies, this Desktop has a legit COA sticker and that's what provides the licence. Windows can be reinstalled from a home-burned backup copy, the setup files on a hard/flash drive, etc, so as far as I am aware what I'm asking isn't illegal.
I took a note of the details of the COA and of the CD when I first ejected it from the dead PC, and I'm cursing myself now for not burning a backup copy for him before I gave it back.

With true German efficiency they emailed back very promptly, but to say they are fresh out of those old XP CDs.
I'll get the PC back and look to see if I can make a custom reinstall CD using the setup files in the I386 folder.

dbrunton: Those are the notes I was looking for. I had my own notes made from that site before, but they are on a hard drive in a box under lots of other boxes in a cupboard right now. My main PC died and I had to get another up and running, and I'm shuffling content between drives right now.
Jim-R: Coincidentally that page is one that did come up in my searches but I wasn't sure that the guy's PC does use a "recovery partition". There seems to have been a 1st and 2nd Generation Scaleo P and there may be differences in this respect. The Recovery CD was very standard as far as I recall. No additional "resource CD" with all the drivers and additional Dell type software, and standard folder contents other than a few extra small OEM folders. I will check out the computer again the first chance I have.

Your first link is the page I was trying to find again. I had it bookmarked years ago, and will read through it thoroughly again. I discussed a "Drive Image" backup solution with the PC owner on Friday morning and I said that I would try and find a reasonably priced internal or USB external hard drive for him to use for the backup image.
