The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

could somebody recommend a good spam filter for our company email and some advice

Asked by RupertA in Anti-Spam Email Software, Outlook Groupware Software, Products

We have a company of only 15 employees. We run one server with SBS 2003 and use Exchange for our email. We get a lot of spam to most people's email and want a superior filter. We have had a sales pitch from a company where they have a hosted solution, the email comes to them, gets filtered, mx records then point to our server and the email comes to us. In other words, we don't have to install anything.

They boldly claimed that only one in 300,000 genuine emails would be blocked. An impressive statistic. However the service isn't cheap, about £500 a year. As I am not knowledgable on spam filters at all I wanted to get some advice from experts here. Is there a cheaper filter you can buy which is effective? I personally think the microsoft outlook filter is pretty hopeless really. I would say it only traps 60% of spam.

So any advice on spam filters would be appreciated. Cheap is not good by the way if it involves us giving up much, if any, time to looking thru logs to see if anything genuine is there. We are interested in getting on with our work, not doing daily administation on spam filters.
