The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How to move Outlook Express .dbx files from one drive to another.

Asked by Bill_Dickason in Outlook Groupware Software, Microsoft Applications

Tags: , , ,

I have a strange situation.

I can do the *.dbx search on each of two drives. I see the .dbx files for each drive. They are somewhat different (e.g., one has an extra folder) because of what I describe below.

However, when I use "My Computer" to get to the files (the funny ones with the { at the start) in the Identities folder, they are the same for each drive and show up as empty folders. I have things set up to show all files.

I have run two separate searches in open windows and attempted to copy and paste the desired Identities (which contain the subfolders of microsoft > outlook express and the necessary .dbx files) onto the Identies on the other drive. It seems  work in terms of drive activity, but the folders that show up in Outlook are unchanged. Funny, it did not even warn that the file already existed, but then nothing happened as near as I can tell.

I should mention that I have two identities, my wife and I. The two drives were at one time mirror images. However, I had to switch the boot drive to one which had not been used for 10 days to receive mail. Therefore, I need the to move messages to the new boot drive. I know what other files have changed, e.g., excel, and can simply copy them over.

This question is very important because the longer I am getting mail on the new drive the harder it becomes to sort things out. I shouldn't think it that difficult, but it has me stumped.
