There were really no other options for this problem and no one else came forth with suggestions.

Browse All TopicsWe are removing our antiquated Safeboot from our network. I have two workstations that are currently being used by employees and they both still have the boot protection, as well as the drive encryption. The respective accounts are not found in the Safeboot DB in SafeBoot Machine Groups. The server is a virtual machine running Windows Server 2003 Ent. SP2 in a VMware environment. I have tried recoveries multiple times, but the server will not accept the recovery code because the requesting machine account is missing in the database. I don't know if creating a SafeTech boot disk will work.
I inherited this environment and there is absolutely no documentation that will assist in this. I was hoping there might be a backup DB somewhere that I could restore where the machine accounts might still be accountable.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, because the alternative is building new machines and migrate the users to new machines. This would not be a problem, except one workstation is located half-way across the country. It would be much easier to remove the boot protection and the encryption.

I guess your second option is the only one here. Encryption and boot protection cannot be overtaken as you wish. If you get any chance to load to system, copy out the data from those machines and rebuild them.
