The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

File encryption sofware that will allow me to encrypt executable programs and then be able to emai and receive these encrypted files without having them blocked because they are executable programs

Asked by TechSupportExpert in Encryption for Network Security, Exchange Email Server, Windows XP Operating System

I need a method or a way of obtaining file encryption software that will allow me to encrypt executable programs and then be able to email and receive these encrypted files without email programs (such as Exchange, Gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc.) being able to detect that these are executable files.

Exchange server by default (and at every company that I have ever worked at) has always blocked any type of executable file that I have tried to email as a file attachment.

This happens EVEN THOUGH I have used several different kinds of file encryption programs to encrypt the file and have changed the filename extension to something else (such as .txt, .doc, or .1).

Exchange server and other email websites (such as Gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc.) are ALWAYS able to detect that this is an executable file and then blocks the delivery of this file attachments since it is an executable program (even though I have tried various work arounds as mentioned above).

How can I email executable programs as file attachments without these file attachments being detected as programs and then being automatically blocked?

The best solution that I can think of would be to encrypt the file before emailing it, but what encryption program would allow me to be able to do this?
