Unable to access Exchange 2003 from windows 5.2 mobile device

We have recently had to re-new the certificate on our Exchange Server (2003). Access to mail works fine via either OWA / OMA and iPhones, however any devices using active sync will not connect?

One interesting thing noticed after re-newing the certificate on the exchange server, when it is viewed from the certification Authority MMC tool, it shows the old certificate as having an intended purpose of "all" yet the re-newed certificate shows its intended purpose as "server Authentication" Given it is only the ActiveSync Windows Mobile 5.2 devices not working here (iphone works fine too) could there be any other issues at play here?

Viewing the MMC tool we also noticed that there was another certificate called mail1.xxxxxxx.com, could it be there needs to be an additional certificate set up for the PDAs???

Any help would be appreciated
