The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Sending HTTPS requests to a different port when 443 is already in use on another server

Hi I'm having a problem trying to get a new file transfer product working.

The problem is I'm already using port 443 for an exchange server connection on one machine behind my firewall. This works great and the routing to this is fine.

The problem is I have a request to implement a HTTPS file transfer service that needs to be installed on another server behind the firewall. Therefore I believe I have to use a different port for this connection as I will have to port forward to a different IP address?

I've set the file transfer product up to use port 8090 and this works when accessing using the internal IP (e.g. https://10.232.14.4:8090/). I've set the port forward on the firewall to forward all port 8090 tcp traffic to the IP address of the File transfer server. But when I try the outward facing IP address (from both behind the firewall and infront on it) e.g. https://213.145.14.5:8090/ I can not get a connection.

To test that the file tranfer service worked I changed the port forward of 443 to the File tranfer server and change the server port accordingly and all worked fine.

So is there something I have missed (e.g. can't use :8090 in the URL) or anything else I could check?

many thanks,
