Asked by ViRoy in Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
I used to have a program called 'BlackIce' on my desktop as an IDS. It was very small, didnt take much processing power... and most importantly, it gave a very nice real time view of all incoming network activity for my computer. It would show pings, floods and other threats in real-time and allow me to block that IP.
ISS has closed the BlackIce project so I need another solution.
Key points - Must have easy GUI with real-time reporting. Must have tools for blocking ICMP and attacking IP addresses. Snort does not have such a GUI last time I checked, so no Snort.
Also, I really dont like application security... I already have something that keeps prompting me to allow/block whenever I run certain apps and I find it quite annoying.
Freeware preferred but I am willing to pay for something that is near identical to BlackIce.
Platforms: WinXP & Vista
Thanks in advance!
