Browse All TopicsI am seeking opinions on hardware recommendations to implement a snort IDS to monitor a gigabit network.
i tried implementing in the past with old hardware that was not adaquate.
i'm working on a proposal to get an IDS up and running however i'm not sure what the hardware requirements would be to monitor a link that has alot of traffic.
i'm trying to get a solution that will perform adaquately without going overboard.
I was thinking:
CPU: Core 2 quad - 2.83ghz w/ 12MB L2 cache
RAM: 8GB DDR2-1066
Storage: SATA 2 hdd (7200RPM)
i'm not sure if that would be inadaquate or overkill.
any guidance would be appreciated.
thank you.
