The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Can't Access Symantec website

Hi,

1. I use a Toshiba Satellite laptop with windows XP.
2. I have the norton antivirus 2003 software loaded.
3. I update the programme with live updates & with intellingent updates everyday.
4. I usually use cable unless i am travelling.
5. Yesterday i was travelling and dialled up to the internet using my mobile phone.
6. I had some virus mails in my mail box which norton deleted immediatley.

However since this incident I  had 2 problems

1. It gave me a Windows File Protection error and kept asking me to replace some files by using the Windows XP CD (which i didnt have)....so my hardware guy asked me to go to the F8 option while booting and restore an old log version.

2. However ever since the dial up I am unable to LIVE UPDATE my software for antivirus and I CANNOT ACCESS ANY PAGE OF THE SYMANTEC website. (my friends can access the site). I cant link to the home page www.symantec.com. I searched google for symantec and went to every link that was listed in the search but I get a PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED OPTION on ALL symantec pages.

Here I tried dialling up using another connection at home to see if my cable guy has blocked hte site but that doesnt work either.

I'm very confused at what the problem could be since there are no viruses detected in the scan....why would it not allow me to access the site when all my friends can !
