Question

Yahoo Messenger Popup Ads

Asked by: ilovemykeyki

Hi everybody! I really, really, really want your help about this problem about my Yahoo Messenger. Whenever I receive messages and/or send messages for the first time after I open/reboot my PC, a popup window (spyware/adware) is being displayed telling me that my computer is loaded with spywares and I must download their software or click a link. I know that this kind of popups are fraud. But what I still don't know is how can I get rid of this popups.

It comes from this url.
http://vn.msie.tv/popup14.php?pin=1

I always run CWShredder, yes it removes Searchx, but still there are popups, and if that popups pop, a new Searchx is installed.
I also run Spybot, but it does not detected anything.

Here is my HijackThis logfile. I think it's clean. Take a look. I don't know about this one.

Make sure you have the latest version of spybot and also update and run Ad-Aware. It's freeware and can be found here: http://download.com.com/3000-8022-10214379.html?tag=lst-0-1 . Also, it is essential that you run all the programs again in safe mode. From what you said, it sounds like you are receiving these ads before you even connect to the internet, a definite indication of spyware.

get a free firewall like zonealarm , it will help remove some pop ups, also a pop up blocker can help.
please remember removing pop ups/adaware/malware and etc  will continue untill you find a
security solution.  get the lastest service pack for your os, check yahoo messenger settings,
install a free firewall, install a pop blocker or get norton secuirty pro that has all in 1 solution.
disable the "messenger" service"" , if your using dsl or cable get a nat router for cunsomers
like linksys or etc . no their not for experts their for protection home users.

if xp:::::::::::: enable the  internet connection firewall

run these from  """"""""""'safe mode"""""""""""""""""" its a most to be very effective
also run lava soft adware
cw shredder
spy bot search and destroy.

then post the log again

LeftofCool & 4ceReconSniper

- i already have the latest version of spybot. and i already have the latest version of ad-aware.

magus123

- i already have a zonealarm firewall.
- i have been updating my OS almost everyday, and always make sure that i have the latest SP installed.
- my broadband modem also works as a router...
- i already disabled my messenger service before i posted the problem.

I already have the solution....and i'll post it here.

I noted the domain/address of the ad that is popping.
And in the Privacy tab of Internet Explorer Tools, I chose "Advanced" -> "Override Automatic Cookie Handling"
The I set this for "First-party cookies" -> "Allow"
  and "Third-party cookies" -> "Prompt"
Then i put the web address on my Web Sites (managed web sites) so that it will always block anything that comes from
that web address which is "msie.tv"

And it WORKED!!!!!!!!!! no more popping!!!! :D

Any comments or violent reactions???? Feel free to post. c",)

Is ok for all that I'll refund my points for this question???? Comment...I'd like to hear
your comments before posting a request at the Community Support.
