you cant defeat the new bios locks on the IBM laptops, its stored not only on the bios but on another chip on the motherboard.
The only way to have it unlocked is to conect IBM and get them to do it, from what i have been told they plug it into what looks like a docking station and remove or reset it .
IBM Thinkpad http://www.ja.axxs.net/unl
I have reset these passwords on IBM's over the years. On desktops it used to be done by powering up whilst shorting out the internal speaker. On a couple of thinkpads I did a while ago I had to take out the battery and power up the machine with whilst shorting a special jumper that was hidden behind it. Take a look behind the battery or other bits for odd jumpers that seem to be there for now reason. The last one had that jumper and I had to hold the power button at power on for 10 seconds etc. Worth a look anyway!.
here's the solution: guaranteed. they did three password removal for me with success. A21m, R52, and T42.
