  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. A Virus that prevents me from running apps

Hi Forum

Ok this one is strange.

On recently trying to run Norton AV I found the program wouldnt load, it just flicked up on the screen and dissapeard. I then tried to go to Mcafee online, I typed in the address and the web page closed. I have now found I cant access my firewall, running processes, HijackThis, any web site that is connected with virus/firewall or similar or run anything like regedit!?! They all flash up for a split second and then close. (the same in safe mode)

I can use many other applications perfectly?

I mangaged to run an online scan from Symantec which found three viruses:
W32.Spybot.Worm
Trojan.Bookmarker.Gen
Backdoor.agent.B (since removed with auto remove tool)

As I write this I am running a virus scan on the hard drive from a remote machine, but im not convinced its going to work.

Has anyone got any idea whats happening or how I can sort the problem??
