Shall i use Kaspersky!?

No hard feelings aginst to two mentioned AV but I recommend you use NOD32.
It is a good AV with excellent heuristic capabilities.

Do try out the evaluation copy available at their website.

Well I said so partially. :)
The real time virusscanner does use less resources to my knowledge/experience.
The actual full system scan slows my system to a screaching halt. But then again I run that when it's past my bedtime anyways :)

The bit that's worst imo is that if you ever uninstall and reinstall it for whatever reason you'll be doing a hell of a lot of manual removing cos the bugger just will not uninstall properly. Cos they reckon you should install it and leave it forever... and if you don't... then your version is cracked. Logical thinking eh?


Firewall & AV general info:
Hackers/crackers/viruswriters create virusses/use exploits for programs that are used most by the public. Norton is used most. Hence attracting the wrong kind of people.

Not used it.... but I think Kaspersky actually won an award or two for having the best heuristics

NOD32 used to be arguably the best at detection *and* used less resources during scans and realtime protection.  I've seen recent comparison tests tho where NOD was really gone downhill.  Tests can be biased tho so it's tough to say how accurste that info was.  Search archives here on EE for NOD32 and you'll definately see tonnage of hits, mostly positive (but then again, they definately at least *were* top-notch and definately have a loyal following.....even if they did actually slack off...which if still uncertain to me).  In such a search, you will also find links many experts have posted where comparison tests were run.  I was involved in one of those threads a while back, and one guy was really pushing NOD32.  I d/l'd it and ran 2 scans on my email folder w/ literally thousands of undeleted, unquarantined, virus-embedded or attached email messages.  One NOD, one Kaspersky, both set to high heuristics.  In that limited test, both found over 2,000 viruses, with Kaspersky finding roughly 30 more than NOD32.  That *still* doesn't proove anything tho, since those 30 "extras" could have been false positives....in fact, 1000 that each detected could have been false positives.  They're probably both close and on any given day one could beat the other depending on the test, who performed it, and how it was done, etc.

I'd still go w/ Kaspersky simply because of what I've heard and that Kaspersky detected 1.5% more than NOD on my unscientific test.  Others could easily have had the exact opposite experience and would swear by NOD over Kaspersky.  Either way, for home versions at least, they both spank the hell out of norton's personal av stuff.

NOD vs Kasp is kinda like Ferarri vs Porche....depends on the settings (model of car), type of test (course/track), options used (options on car model).  Road tests can be crafted/configured so that either would win.  Norton personal products are more like VW's ;)

EEK!!! Been so long since I've used them I totally forgot about the uninstall headaches....they're still that bad??  Sheesh...thought they'd have fixed that but I guess (like McCrappy) they figure if uninstalling it breaks your system then you have no choice but to keep using them if you're not up for manual post-uninstall cleanup.

Ora You:  Trying NOD32 is a good idea...NOD and Kaspersky both have trials, try them both and see which interface you like better, how they affect your system performance, etc......provided you're able to get Norton uninstalled ;)

You can get it uninstalled.
But never fully... not with their uninstaller.

And don't even think about reinstalling it in an easy manner

Try both, whichever you find the best use it buddy.

At present since I personally felt NOD32 nice to use I will be deploying it in the corporate next week.

as per all comments above re Kapersky and NOD32 are very good indeed.

These two vendors are very good when it comes to detecting virus and stopping them and performance is also excellent.

When it comes to 'bake offs', NOD32, Kapersky and Trend do very well indeed. Saw some competetive data on this subject and in one bakeoff NOD32 and Kapersky came out tops with Trend very very close  behind (almost 100% success rates for trend and 100% for other two).

In comparision the likes of McAfee  only got about 50% success rate and the likes of Nortan/Symmantec were only slighty better.

For sure you wont go wrong with with Kapersky or NOD32 for Anti-Virus.
