Laptop tracking

Does anyone know of a laptop tracking device that is NOT software based? nearly all of the ones I've found so far ( lojack, trackion, etc) require that the laptop be booted up and accessing the internet for it to track where the laptop is. My laptop has Enova X-Wall, which encrypts my entire harddrive and cannot be booted or bypassed without the correct passkey. (All they can do is completely reformat my harddrive via a different computer and start from scratch). I am looking for something that is hardware based and self contained (perhaps connecting to the security slot on my laptop) and would send a signal for a remote locator or tracking satellite to pick up. Since I travel alot, any ideas, products or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
