The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Problem with 'adult' pop up's

Hi experts,
A friend of mine from work has been looking at 'adult sites' and has gotten some stuff onto his PC that is constantly popping up and advertising different things of an adult nature. He asked me today to come out and have a look at it so I did. I brought along with me a copy of Ad-Aware which I installed on his machine and then ran a scan. It found 54 critical objects which I then selected to be deleted, however it then told me that 1 could not be deleted because it was important for other  purposes. It was C:\Windows\System32\EGDACCESS_1063.dll. There was another one at C:\Windows\EGDACCESS_ASPIV4a.dll. It told me that it could delete it on the next reboot, so without thinking I did this and deleted it. Windows then puts up a message saying that it cant find this file every time the computer is booted up. It doesn't seem to effect the operation of the PC but I'm worried that I have deleted this driver and dont know the consequences.

However the main part of my question is that the problem has not gone away and these messages are still popping up every so often when he is online. I wasn't sure what steps to take next so I have arranged to go out to him again tomorrow night and have another go because I feel that I have made the situation a little worse for him.

I f anybody has any advise as to what I could try please let me know. Would spybot be any good? Ad aware told me that it could delete one threat so maybe this is the one that is causing these problems.
