First, last year when I was advised on an almost daily basis that my subscription was about to expire a month from then, I finally relented and re-subscribed. But rather than start the year from the old expiration date of Dec 16th, they started it on Nov 16th --- in effect, short-changing me a month. After numerous attempts to get an answer from customer service, I got a response (apparently written in another language and then translated into English), telling me not to worry but a year from now NIS would catch up with the extra month --- "a year from now!" --- why can't they just set the new expiration date "NOW!" Second, I've had to reinstall the program 5 times this year to reset registry entrees that periodically disabled other programs --- most noteably MS Outlook --- each time required to go to the website, find the obscure link in Customer Service that handles subscription services and then going through the 1/2 hour install followed by the 45 minute system scan (which, if you don't do --- you are constantly warned about). Then there's been the recent experiences where I've gone into the firewall to customize a setting, only to find that the program freezes --- deep freeezes --- I have to unplug the computer from the wall to get it restarted! Not to mention the resources this thing uses, the time it takes to reboot, the icons it throws all over ever other program and that always want to take a line of there own, the 30 seconds it takes for the program to appear when you doubleclick the icon (no doubt a function of the resource drain), and .... let me take a breath and calm down... I've just installed the free version of AVG and uinstalled NIS (yes, I reset my firewall) ... let's see if this because RANT II.
