Browse All TopicsAfter the last live update of Norton Internet Security/Firewall 2005, whenever I try to use Imesh, my system disconnects my network connection (cable modem and Linksys router). The Norton program setting for Imesh is "Permit All".
I believe that Norton is doing this intentionally in order to "play ball" with all of the anti-file sharing Nazi’s. I've had similar problems in the past where if Internet Security was enabled, Imesh couldn't connect, but there wasn't any network impact. The way around it was to disable Internet Security, start Imesh, then re-enable Internet Security. This no longer works.
I like the Norton products, but I hate Symantec. They have the worst customer service and tech support of any SW I've ever dealt with and I believe that this new "feature" is just another sign of the contempt with which they view their customers.
Does anyone have a solution for this Imesh problem? If not, I am going to remove Norton and go with a free firewall program. I'm sick of them. They are almost as bad as any hacker they may be protecting me from anyway. What's the difference? Both Norton and hackers seek to prevent me from using my PC in the manner in which I choose and both execute unwanted instructions.
